(c) State two features of E that adapt it to life on land and in water. [5 marks]
4. Specimen H is a mammalian long bone cut longitudinally.
(a) Name four parts visible in the section. [8 marks]
(b) State the function of each part named. [8 marks]
(c) State one observable feature that shows the bone is from a young animal. [4 marks]
5. Specimen A is a wet mount of onion epidermal cells stained with iodine solution.
(a) Name three structures you would expect to see in a single cell. [6 marks]
(b) State the function of each structure named. [9 marks]
(c) State one reason for staining the specimen. [5 marks]
A student sampled soil from two sites and measured its pH and water content.
(a) Describe how the water content of a soil sample is determined. [8 marks]
(b) State two ways in which soil pH affects plant growth. [6 marks]
(c) State two sources of error in the determination. [6 marks]
Reading these is not the same as sitting them.
